- 1722 Rosa Americana Halfpenny. Martin 1.1-A.1, W-1214. Rarity-5. VTILE DVLCI--Counterstamped--VG-8. 57.3 grains. Deep chocolate-brown with uniform granularity throughout. Natural planchet crack at 1 o'clock relative to the obverse, two counterstamps on obverse at tip of bust, both tiny rectangles with four raised dots in each, R of ROSA on reverse affected by the planchet crack. A neat and unusual example of a scarce variety. PCGS# 98. Provenance: From our (Bowers and Merena's) Fist National Bank of Denver Collection sale, June 1987, lot 2006.
