An incredibly beautiful GEM example of this short lived two year type. Nearly 3 million examples were struck making this a somewhat available date in lower grades, it is RARE in GEM or better grade. This GEM is sharply struck all over with complete definition on Liberty's hair, face and drapery. Likewise, the eagle shows off complete definition throughout with rich mottled reddish-brown and variegated blue toning that rotates the surface luster in a light. The underlying brilliance brings out the varied shades in the tone. The eye appeal is spectacular. PCGS 9, NGC 8, CAC 6. This coin sold in January 2019 for $9,000 as an NGC MS65 CAC and the CAC CPG value is listed at $11,900. Just 9 coins are graded finer, and a PCGS/CAC MS66 would cost around $30,000! Cert.
