详细说明: A SUPERB example of this popular Red Book type. The 1839 date has a number of very interesting Guide Book varieties, not just the Silly Head, as here, but the Booby Head, offered below. A collection of the four major Red Book types is a popular pursuit among EAC collectors. Boldly lustrous medium brown surfaces show accents of violet, olive, and rose. Sharply struck throughout this Condition Census GEM. We note a tiny mark or two that are visible under close inspection only. The eye appeal of this coin is VERY impressive and a bold beautiful large cent for the picky collector. The Silly Head is represented by two die pairs, N-4 and N-9. The N-9 is considered slightly scarcer overall, in GEM grades, this is the only one in MS66 BN. PCGS 9, NGC 8, CAC 7. These population figures represent both varieties of Silly Head, and there are only 2 finer. The most recent PCGS/CAC coin sold for $12,000 in June 2018.
