- 1893 Liberty Head Half Eagle. MS-65 (PCGS). Softly frosted luster mingles with vivid rose-gold patina on both sides of this smooth and inviting Gem. With a generous mintage of 1,528,120 circulation strikes and wide representation in repatriations of U.S. gold coins from European bank hoards, the 1893 is an understandably common issue in lower Mint State grades through MS-64. In Gem Uncirculated MS-65 and higher grades, however, the 1893 develops into a significant condition rarity that enjoys strong demand among quality conscious gold enthusiasts.
