- 1839 Modified Matron Head Cent. N-11. Rarity-1. Booby Head. MS-65 BN (PCGS). A gorgeous Booby Head Gem with remarkable definition for the Newcomb-11 die pairing. Significant blooms of tangerine-pink luster remain in the protected regions, accenting the patina of steel blue and chocolate brown shades. The surfaces are smooth and satiny, left without any notable distractions. Well formed denticles and delineated centrils to obverse stars complement the boldly defined focal elements on each side, rendering this piece a truly superior representative of this marriage. PCGS has certified just 11 examples finer than the present piece across all Booby Head varieties in this color category. Provenance: Ex Kagin's sale of the George M.
