"1787" Fugio Copper. "New Haven Restrike." Newman 104-FF, W-17560. URS-10. Copper. MS-64 RB (PCGS). A truly lovely example, deep golden tan with deep and fiery orange highlights. From an advanced obverse die state, Breen-1322, "Last strikings." Swollen obverse, die cracks at MIND YOUR that run clockwise through the first cinquefoil and separating into several small cracks, with a bold one the juts left to the rim above the FU. Another crack, much heavier overall, extends from the rim above G in an arc that crosses the top of the O and then continues its arc through the rays and terminates on the sun's face. The reverse is severely rusted; no doubt this specimen represents the latest and terminal state of the dies. A pleasure to behold, and a neat die state as well.
