- 1739-N Sou Marque. Montpellier Mint. Vlack-149, var. No Stop After LUD. EF-45 (PCGS). 33.1 grains. A seemingly rare variety, unlisted in the Vlack reference, and differing from the normal by the absence of a stop after LUD in the reverse legend. That side of the coin is mostly warm dove-gray, the obverse more deeply toned in steely copper-gray. Both sides show full silvering and are uniformly bold in detail on a slightly irregular planchet. Free of troublesome marks, a bit of ancient surface build up on the obverse is easily forgiven at the assigned grade level. Provenance: From the Sydney F. Martin Collection.
