FROM THE PERFECTION COLLECTION OF CAPPED BUST HALF DOLLARS WOW! Did Gene Gardner buy nice coins or what! Just one look at this Gem+ and you know it was almost custom made for Mr. Perfection! A Condition Census O-110, this coin is purely original and very high end, even for the lofty grade assigned by PCGS. Classic old time collection toning graces both sides. Warm tangerine-rose and apricot-gold at the centers are framed by a halo of teal-blue toning. A rich frosted luster has a satiny sheen that highlights the color. The central devices show bold definition, while due to die fatigue, some of the peripheral elements of the design are blunt, stars and letters drawn to the edge. The eye appeal is incredible on this GEM Mint State 1825 half dollar. Ex. Heritage, July 2013, lot 3155; Eugene Gardner Collection; Heritage's sale of the Gardner Collection, October 2014, lot 98470. PCGS 28, NGC 25, CAC 5. There are just three in MS65+ at PCGS. This coin brought $17,625 eight years ago. Clearly the PCGS Price Guide value is negatively effected by the non-CAC examples that have sold; this coin will always be worth a premium. PCGS has graded a dozen finer, only two of which are CAC approved. This GEM is worthy of a great type set or specialized GEM Bust half dollar set. Good luck. Cert. Number 25017600 PCGS # 6142
