- FRANCE. Ecu d'Or, ND (1541). Rouen Mint. Francis I. NGC MS-62. Fr-351; Dupl-889; Ciani-1091. "écu d'or à la croisette, premiere type" struck for François I at Rouen ("B" mintmark, one of the first coins issued after the mintmark reform). Sharply struck on a round flan with only a few tiny weak spots. Distinctly superior to the "écu d'or à la croisette" we sold at the ANA (August 2017, lot 20236). Full legends on both sides, soft satin luster and good eye appeal. Estimate: $1,000 - $1,500. NGC MS-62. Click here for certification details from NGC.
