THE BIG CYPRESS COLLECTION This a gorgeous coin for an AU53, heads and shoulders above what you typically see for this grade, indeed it rivals some AU55 coins in terms of quality and eye appeal. Only 5,000 were struck during this pivotal Civil War year, and PCGS CoinFacts estimates 650 survive in all grades. Keenly struck up from clashed dies, this example has only a faint trace of rub on the high points and some friction in the fields. The deep apricot-rose patina over satiny frosty surfaces gleam with a wealth of underlying luster. The eye appeal is incredible for the grade. PCGS 32, NGC 35, CAC 6. This is the example that sold in June 2022 for $6,250. Both the CAC CPG and PCGS Price Guide values are listed at $6,000.
