DUPLICATES FROM THE BLACKCAT COLLECTION Ex Simpson Collection, as noted on the holder. A fantastic GEM example of Barber's Union Shield design. This Rarity-6- Pattern features the union shield with crossed poles topped by an eagle and Liberty Cap. The reverse design shows a closed olive branch surrounding a large 5 and CENTS below. Struck in nickel with a plain edge. Every detail is fully struck to its finest advantage, crisp and exquisitely rendered by an exacting blow from the dies. The fields are icy sleek and watery reflective with a lively flash under a dusting of the most subtle iridescent toning. The eye appeal is excellent. PCGS 8, NGC 4, CAC 2. This coin realized $6,600 in November 2020 and the current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $8,000.
