- 1870 Pattern Dollar. Judd-1015, Pollock-1149. Rarity-7-. Silver. Plain Edge. Proof-63 (NGC).
Obverse: Indian Princess seated left on globe, LIBERTY on ribbon around globe, wheat sheaf and furled flags behind, Liberty pole and cap in right hand, 13 stars around, date below. Reverse: from the die of the circulating Liberty Seated dollar design. Lightly frosted motifs and boldly reflective steel-gray fields are splashed with lively and deep shades of gold. James Barton Longacre's posthumous design type, instrumented by the Mint in 1870 despite the fact that he passed away on January 1, 1869. A rarity in all grades, the present example of Judd-1015 is one of just three examples of the variety certified by NGC in any grade.
NGC Census: 1; 2 finer (Proof-66 finest).
