FROM THE SAND HILL COLLECTION. A fully Choice and richly detailed coin with well-preserved frosted surfaces. Delicate clear gold toning is dusted with touches of pastel silver iridescence. We note a single small mark below the bow on the reverse, accounting for the assigned grade. During 1840 an additional fold of drapery was added at Miss Liberty’s elbow; this is the scarcer of the 2 types stuck that year. PCGS 22, NGC 15, CAC 5. Listed in the PCGS Price Guide for $1,400. This coin was last sold at auction in January 2018 when it realized $2,160. VERY RARE ANY FINER, with just 8 coins listed in the PCGS Population Report in higher grade.
