- 1807 Capped Bust Left Half Eagle. BD-8. Rarity-2. AU-58 (PCGS). This thoroughly appealing example offers stronger quality and eye appeal than many lower end Mint State coins of the type that we have handled over the years. Nearly complete satin luster blends with handsome deep honey-olive and more vivid orange-gold colors. Both sides exhibit a razor sharp strike that is all but devoid of even the lightest rub. This is the popular first year of issue for the Capped Bust Left series, examples of which are known in two die marriages. BD-8, offered here, is readily identifiable with the tip of the lowermost arrow feather on the reverse over the extreme right edge of the digit 5 in the denomination.
