- "1789" Mott Token. Breen-1021, Rulau NY-611. Thin Planchet. Plain Edge. AU-55 (PCGS). 126.1 grains. A simply outstanding example of this scarcer variant of the enigmatic Mott token. Both sides are boldly to sharply defined throughout the design, the eagle side rotated 90 degrees clockwise from coin alignment. That side exhibits scant to no denticulation from 12 to 4 o'clock, but otherwise the strike is nicely centered. The texture is satiny and lively, the surfaces overall smooth in hand and bathed in richly original golden-brown and olive-copper patina. A thin, shallow flan flaw that bisects the letter S in WARES on the clock side is noted solely for accuracy. Exceptional striking quality and surface preservation that is sure to catch the eye of the astute collector. Provenance: From the Greenway Collection. Stack's company tag included. PCGS# 604.
