- 1710-D 30 Deniers, or Mousquetaire. Lyon Mint. Vlack-2, W-11710. Rarity-2. AU-53 (PCGS). 33.0 grains. This richly original example is awash in blended steel gray, brassy-gold and, to a lesser extent, antique silver patina. Sharply to fully defined from an expert strike, the preservation is just as impressive with a smooth and distraction-free appearance. An ideal issue to represent this French colonial billon denomination in a type set, the availability of the 1710-D is perhaps best illustrated by the fact that the Ford Collection contained seven (!) examples.
