1870 Pattern Quarter. Judd-902, Pollock-1017. Rarity-7. Proof-63 BN (PCGS). A truly rare pattern issue that is seldom offered at all, as a mere six have been graded between the two services. The present coin has handsome milk chocolate toning with a tinge of blue in the recesses. The obverse shows a bust of Liberty facing right, her hair pulled back in a pony tail behind her head, wearing a ribbon inscribed LIBERTY on her head, another ribbon below has the Motto IN GOD WE TRUST, above is UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Reverse shows a large open wreath of farm crops, STANDARD above, center with 25 CENTS and 1870 in small digits below the denomination. Struck in Copper with a Reeded Edge.
