- One of the popular 20th century rarities the 18/7-S quarter has been actively sought since it was publicly recognized in the late 1930s. By that time, most examples had entered circulation and Mint State coins are quite rare. The present coin has a warm, glowing mint frost on both sides. The head, shield, and eagle's chest feathers do show typical striking weakness. The eye appeal is very pleasing for a coin of this variety and grade. PCGS 29, NGC 6. The most recent PCGS MS63 to sell was from the John Whitney Walter Collection, a non-CAC coin that brought a very strong realization of $38,400 in the 2018 ANA auction. The D.L. Hansen duplicate sold in April 2018 for $21,625 and this one brought $23,500 back in the 2017 FUN auction. The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $27,500. This will be a prized coin in a CHOICE Mint State Standing Liberty quarter collection and we can see strong bidding for this one when it crosses the block. Cert. Number 60113942 PCGS # 5726
