A very high end example for the assigned grade--we have seen coins graded 65 that do not possess the luxuriant eye appeal this one does. While we make no warrantees that this one will ever grade higher, it does have a bold look. Rich, watery mirrors beam with excellent clarity and depth that offer a flashy brilliance when viewed in the light. The surfaces are clean and pleasing for the assigned grade with a touch of iridescent toning. Only 813 were struck. PCGS 66, NGC 65, CAC 5. Clearly we believe that there is some duplication in the population figures at NGC and PCGS. The only CAC-approved coin to ever sell in auction was an NGC coin sold in November 2011 for $4,485. The last PCGS coin sold in January 2015, was darkly toned and sold for a price commensurate with its eye appeal, indeed this coin has a better look than the PR65 sold in a November 2017 internet auction.
