- AUSTRALIA. Sovereign, 1879-S. NGC AU-55. Fr-15; KM-7; Mc-156. For the date, the much better "Saint George" reverse, and quite SCARCEin this CHOICE ALMOST UNCIRCULATEDcondition. A date that catalogs for $575 in (Very Fine) and leaps to $8,000 in (Uncirculated) in the Rinniks catalog. Clearly a date that saw very heavy use in commerce, with very few surviving with original mint luster still intact like the example presented here.
