- 1741-BB Sou Marque. Strasbourg Mint. Vlack-253b. Rarity-6. AU-53 (PCGS). 32.9 grains. Almost all of the silvering remains to smooth, lustrous AU surfaces. Mottled steel and olive patina enhances a base of pewter-gray. The reverse is a bit softer than the obverse, but all major design elements are more or less bold and fully appreciable. A popular variety with the letter S in SIT clearly punched over an inverted digit 3. Provenance: From the Sydney F. Martin Collection. Purchased at the July 1997 ANA Convention, source not recorded.
