FROM THE ISSAQUAH ESTATE EX ELIASBERG All around this is an amazing coin. It certainly does border on GEM quality! To start, this coin is FULLY prooflike. If it were a Morgan we 'd be telling you the mirrors are a full 8" and are DMPL status. Obviously this coin was a very early strike. Just like a Morgan, because of the deep mirrors you can see a few tiny ticks and giggles-but they are spread out. The mirrors resemble a fresh sheet of ice. An intense luster/flash beams from all over. The contrast is as strong as any you'd see on a Cameo Proof. Clearly the reverse of this coin was sitting on felt. It has beautiful colors of original golden brown/pale violet. The obverse is pretty much untoned. Miss Liberty and the details are sharply struck and stand out boldly with thick frost. The eye appeal is amazing! PCGS 17, NGC 20, CAC 7. For this coin, especially looking like this, ALL published price guides hold NO relevance. We placed this coin with Issaquah in 2011. You can search forever and will never see another 1842 like this (in fact the only other fully prooflike coin we have ever seen is the 1857-is in this sale). We are basing our estimate on what we strongly believe this coin is worth at high wholesale. But then, the last PCGS CC piece sold in 2015 (4 years ago!) and certainly was not anywhere as wild as this coin. For a MS Seated Dollar, this coin is a MONSTER! Cert. Number 25596526 PCGS # 6928
