详细说明: 1869 Shield Nickel. Proof-65 Cameo (PCGS). An expertly preserved specimen that will certainly excite the quality-conscious collector. Both sides are brilliant apart from the lightest golden highlights that are not readily evident at all viewing angles. Shimmering reflectivity in the fields shines forth powerfully as the surfaces rotate under a light, and it contrasts nicely with a more satin texture over the devices. Sharply defined in virtually all areas, with expectably smooth features and strong eye appeal at the assigned grade level. The mintage of Proof 1869 Shield nickels is estimated at 850 to 1,100 coins in the A Guide Book of Shield and Liberty Head Nickelsby Q. David Bowers. The author further states of this issue that, "Proofs were made in fair quantity and appear on the market with frequency today, although quality can be a problem."
