- 1842-D Liberty Head Half Eagle. Winter 7-E. Small Date, Small Letters. EF-40 (NGC). CAC. Scarce and desirable CAC-approved quality for the more frequently encountered date and letters style of the 1842-D half eagle. Handsome khaki-olive color overall, the surfaces are enhanced by soft reddish-rose overtones that appear to drift toward the borders. Smooth and well composed for the assigned grade, generally bold detail and pleasing originality will also be of interest to discerning Southern gold collectors. Worthy of strong bids. PCGS# 8210.
