- THE GEORGE SCHWENK COLLECTION A tough date and Mint to find at the GEM level! In fact, in GEM grade, the 25-D is the second rarest Denver mint issue of the 1920s. Marvelous satin luster throughout with a classic look of a fresh coin. Close scrutiny finds tiny flecks of carbon, but these are not distracting. The strike is sharper than usually seen, as this issue often comes with extremely blunt strikes, here the lettering and devices are all clear and minimally distended. An advanced die state, particularly on the reverse, with some die cracks and lots of die fatigue around the periphery. A satiny luster glows under the iridescent pastel toning, and gives life to the high end quality surfaces. The eye appeal is awesome for this date. PCGS 132, NGC 54, CAC 22. There are 18 in MS65+ and just 18 finer. None of the MS65+s that have sold in auction were CAC approved. The current PCGS Price Guide value is $5,500 and the most recent MS65 (no +) with CAC approval to sell was an NGC coin that brought $7,800 in April 2022. With just a dozen and a half finer at PCGS, this is a great coin for any GEM set. Cert. Number 42971086 PCGS # 3955
