FRANCE. Ecu, 1708-(9). Rennes Mint. Louis XIV (1643-1715). NGC MS-62. Dav-1320; KM-360.24; Gad-224; Dr/5-466. The early dates (1704-05) of this ecu aux 8 L type are common but the later dates (1706-08) are generally scarce as the fourth reformation was terminated. A phenomenal survivor of the issue, this coin boasts impeccable detail in the centers with legends that are similarly sharp and show some evidence being restruck in places. Stunning olive brown tone appears over both sides and with its accompanying iridescence, imparts an pleasing glossy appearance in the fields. No marks from handling appear on either side. As such, absolutely worthy of placement in an advanced collection of world crowns. Estimate: $2,500 - $3,000.
