Only one single pair of dies struck all of nearly 30-thousand 1856-C half-eagles, this example showing phenomenally original surfaces for the date. Honest, smooth and consistent overall wear leaves behind no trace of luster, but presents nicer, dark golden lowlights within the recesses.
