Enchanting & Rare Off-Metal Minor Restrike in Gold CAMBODIA. Gold Off-Metal 50 Centimes Restrike, "1860" (1899). Phnom Penh Mint. Norodom I. NGC MS-67. Fr-5; KMX-Pn8; Lec-47. weight: 3.65 gms. An interesting off-metal restrike in gold and featuring a pairing with a Franc reverse (hence the entire design not fitting upon the planchet), this elegant souvenir would have been distributed to high-ranking officials upon its issuing in 1899 following the transferal of the original dies (which had since rusted to a degree) from Brussels to Phnom Penh. High engaging and enchanting, this VERY RAREoffering is quite likely the best of the type that one can possibly hope to encounter. Estimate: $5,000 - $10,000.
