- MEXICO. Empire of Maximilian. Peso, 1867-Mo. NGC MS-63. KM-388.1. Tied with one other in this grade at NGC with only 2 finer. Much more difficult to obtain than the 1866 date of this type. An issue that is reasonably available in the circulated grades, at this level the coin is nearly impossible to find. Easily one of the finest extant with bright white lustrous surfaces surrounded by a narrow band of colorful tone at the peripheries. A coin with much eye appeal and one that is sure to add depth to any comprehensive collection of Maximilian coinage. Estimate: $1,500 - $2,000. Provenance: From the Alex Siegel Collection.
