Rare Gem Off-Metal Franc Restrike in Gold CAMBODIA. Gold Off-Metal Franc Restrike, "1860" (1899). Phnom Penh Mint. Norodom I. NGC MS-65. Fr-4; KMX-Pn8; Lec-59. Weight: 7.42 gms. Struck from original dies that had rusted in the decades since their manufacture, this off-metal striking of a Franc in gold displays the typical die rust that is always encountered, as well as some extensive die cracking upon the reverse. A VERY RAREpresentation issue, as these off-metal products were meant to be distributed to high-ranking officials. Extremely lustrous and vibrant, and undoubtedly one of, if not the, finest representatives of the type. Estimate: $7,500 - $15,000.
