The 1899 Morgan dollar has one of the lower mintages of the series, with only 330,000 struck. In the DMPL classification, this date is scarce, especially so in Premium Gem grades as seen here. Clearly there are NONE FINER at PCGS. This ultra reflective, deeply mirrored GEM is razor sharp in strike and the thickly frosted devices are boldly contrasted against the mirrored fields. The cheek and eagle are especially frosted. Both obverse and reverse display a delicate iridescent toning that adds to the OUTSTANDING eye appeal. PCGS 13, NGC 10. The most recent sold for $6,120 in the 2021 FUN auction and this GEM is more pleasing than the coin we sold in the PFM Collection. The current Collectors Universe value is $6,350 and we suspect this coin will bring a strong price when it crosses the block. Another tied for FINEST coin that belongs in a great set. Cert.
