- 1829 Capped Bust Half Dollar. O-108. Rarity-2. Small Letters. MS-64 (NGC). Outstanding quality for this date and variety and likely one of the finest known. This appears to be an intermediate die state with the final A in AMERICA partially filled along with the right stand of that letter. Fully lustrous and toned with eye appealing lilac-gray on the obverse a bit deeper charcoal and steel-gray for the reverse. Reasonably sharp on Liberty's curls and the eagle too, with minimal signs of handling. Long held in the famed Eliasberg Collection and sold back in 1997, making another appearance some years ago. An important coin for the specialist or advanced type collector. PCGS# 39787. Provenance: From our (Bowers and Merena's) sale of the Louis E.
