- 1923-S Mercury Dime. MS-66+ (PCGS). CAC. With billowy mint frost, silky smooth surfaces and strong eye appeal, it is little wonder that this coin is the single finest 1923-S Mercury dime known to PCGS in the non-FB category. Fully struck in virtually all areas with streaks of wonderfully original olive-russet patina that are more pronounced on the reverse. Dime production at the San Francisco Mint amounted to 6,440,000 pieces, and attrition through circulation was high beginning during the economic boom of the Roaring Twenties.
