- FROM THE SEATTLE COLLECTION Ex Lemus Collection. This is an extremely RARE, R-7+ die trial struck in copper with a plain edge. An estimated 4-6 are thought to survive per the Judd rarity scale, but between PCGS and NGC there are eight in all grades and designations. Flashy, watery mirrored surfaces show ample original mint red color that mingles with a dusting of dappled periwinkle, magenta, and blue hues. The devices are sharply impressed with just a single lint mark to the left of the date, which will forever identify this GEM as the Queller/Lemus coin. From Heritage's 2009 FUN Auction, featuring the Queller/Lemus Collection. Earlier obtained privately from Stack's; ex 1998 ANA auction, lot 5074; ex Kagin's 50th Anniversary Sale, May 1978, lot 1275; ex Robert Hughes ad, July 1977. PCGS 0, NGC 1. This GEM realized a record price of $9,200 in the 2009 FUN auction, and no other RB has ever sold in auction. As the FINEST graded example, this coin will fit in beautifully in any advanced set of trimes, Patterns, or box of 20 rarities. Bidding will be intense, so good luck! Cert.
