Lot 269 1849 N-22 R1. PCGS graded MS-64 Red & Brown. CAC.Very attractive lustrous mellowed mint red fading to bluish steel brown with about half the planchet showing mellowed mint color, mostly on the obverse. Essentially flawless. The only marks are a microscopic speck of dark toning touching a dentil tip at star 1 and a collection of microscopic lint marks struck into the field behind the portrait (all as struck). M-LDS, die state c (Newcomb's old #6). The earlier die lines on the obverse are gone. A choice cent. Our grade is MS64, tied for CC#8 in the Grellman census. The attribution and Great Pacific Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; 5 finer in 65RB.(PCGS # 405686) Value $2,500 - UP Ex Thomas D.
