- FROM THE TOMMY JOHN COLLECTION A lovely, pleasing CHOICE example of this Standing Liberty quarter rarity. Nicely struck up devices stand out against the generally clean surfaces. A dusting of iridescent toning is brought out by the glowing brilliance of the original satin bloom. The head, shield, and eagle's chest feathers do show typical striking weakness, but the eye appeal is very pleasing for a coin of this variety and grade. One of the popular 20th century rarities the 18/7-S quarter has been actively sought since it was publicly recognized in the late 1930s. By that time, most examples had entered circulation and Mint State coins are quite rare. PCGS 26, NGC 6. Keep in mind that CAC is very picky with this date, only 1 has ever gotten a sticker! The most recent to sell in auction brought $21,600 in February 2020, but prior to that, one sold in our January 2019 Regency Auction for $27,025 and one sold for $38,400 in August 2018. This coin's last auction appearance was back in 2003! The current Collectors Universe value is listed at $30,000. Fresh to the market, this KEY, Choice Mint State overdate Standing Liberty quarter is going to see very active bidding. Cert. Number 50038627 PCGS # 5726.00
