Tied for FINEST graded at PCGS, this is a trophy coin needed by anyone building the #1 PCGS Registry Set! But it is more than that, the technical quality is exceptional, we truly believe that if this was a common date, it probably would have been designated an MS66! It really is that high end! Outstanding surfaces rank among the best we have ever seen. We used a strong glass and really looked around; all we found was a tiny tick on the reverse. There really are NO imperfections here. A bold and glowing luster can be seen from feet away. Both sides enjoy some of Mother Nature' best work-- there is a mix of nickel/lilac/gold colors spread all over. Every single feature is fully struck and is really "knife" sharp (something we never see on a 26-S, a date that is notoriously weak in strike). The details actually stand out. You do NOT need a glass to see the full split on the tail. Again, we never see 1926-S in this amazing state of preservation. The eye appeal is mind boggling! PCGS 17, NGC 10, CAC 4. PCGS has graded only 3 in MS65+. None of these have ever been sold via auction. The current Collectors Universe Value is $230,000. All of the others MS65's are locked up in major collections.
