- Fantastic quality! Everything is high end. Boldly lustrous, with a thick, satin mint frost that glows vibrantly on both sides. The devices are sharply struck, especially on the all important central band of the reverse fasces. Traces of pale russet gold tone in the fields on both sides give this high end GEM a great look and attest to the bold originality. The 21-D is a lower mintage date, with only 1,080,000 struck. As a recession gripped the post World War I economy, demand for circulating coins dropped. The only coin that is not a key date from 1921 is the Morgan dollar where tens of millions were struck. The vast majority of 1921-D dimes went into circulation, and are quite scarce in Mint State, and are quite rare in such a lofty state of preservation. PCGS 23, NGC 13. The most recent example to sell in auction was the well pedigreed Joshua II --Hallett Collection coin we sold in September 2018. The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $14,000 and the three most recent examples sold in the $9,694 to $12,925. Keep in mind that a 66+ FB will cost $32,000+ (we sold one in March 2019 for $32,900). This is a great coin for any high ranking PCGS Registry Set. Cert. Number 38260438 PCGS # 004937
