- THE SOMMELIER COLLECTION A lovely near-GEM 1841 large cent, which is tied for Condition Census #7, and boasts a pedigree that includes such luminaries of the E.A.C. world as Robinson S. Brown and Daniel Holmes. A vivid brilliant luster enlivens the soft brown and faded original mint red coloration on both sides. Well struck from a middle to late die state There are a few minor planchet laminations that we note for accuracy and are mint made. The post mint flaws are limited to the most tiny ticks that are invisible to the naked eye. Ex. Louis Ullian Collection (Superior, June 2000, lot 355); Robinson S. Brown Collection (Superior, June 2002, lot 75); Bowers & Merena's December 2004 sale, lot 229; Chris McCawley, August 2006; Daniel W. Holmes Colection (Goldberg's January 2011, lot 30); Fred Iskra Collection (Goldberg's, September 2016, lot 19). PCGS 22, NGC 10, CA C 9. This coin brought $2,056 in September 2016 and PCGS/CAC examples have sold from $2,056 to $3,055. For the N-7 variety, PCGS has listed a value of $2,500 (as opposed to $2,000 for a generic 1841 in MS64 BN). A great coin with a great pedigree. Bid accordingly. Cert. Number 33930878 PCGS # 1832.00
