- 1785 Connecticut Copper. Miller 4.1-F.4, W-2355. Rarity-1. African Head. EF-40 (PCGS). OGH. Among the most pleasing African Head Connecticut coppers the present writer (FVV) has seen in some time. The deep golden brown surfaces appear hard and glossy in-hand, though some minor roughness is noted under low magnification. The devices are boldly presented at the centers, especially on the obverse, while the peripheral legends are crisper than often seen for the variety. An old mark is seen on the obverse between N and E near 4 o'clock, otherwise that side is remarkably free of contact marks. The reverse is likewise "clean" with just one tiny peck near the quatrefoil at 11 o'clock the only mark of note. Obverse rim to tops of CONNEC, reverse rim through ET LIB, with just the bottoms of those letters present. Visually and physically choice for the grade and easily "worth the price of admission" as they say. PCGS# 319.
