- Tied for second FINEST graded at PCGS, this remarkable SUPERB GEM has a just minted look. Vibrant mint luster has a bold brilliance across the entire surfaces. The devices are exceptionally well defined for a 1923, which is often pancake flat in definition. Liberty's head is fully and crisply rendered to its full advantage, all the brads on the shield and all the folds in the drapery are completely struck up. A couple of small ticks are noted under a strong glass, keeping this out of tied for finest category. PCGS 42, NGC 14, CAC 15. In MS66+ FH, PCGS has graded only six pieces and there are seven finer. No MS67 FH has ever been approved by CAC, so this is among the FINEST CAC-beaned examples. The most recent sold in auction in July 2015 realizing $9,400. Prior to that, one sold way back in 2012 for $8,625. The current PCGS Price Guide value of $8,500 seems a bit low indeed. It has been over 3 years since the last PCGS MS67 FH has sold, a coin that brought nearly $13,000. This is a great coin for any top tier PCGS set of Standing Liberty quarters, a coin that will delight any serious collector. Cert. Number 35111555 PCGS # 5743
