- FRANCE. 1 Franc Piefort Essai Struck in Silver, 1927. NGC MS-63. Maz-2581; Gad-94.EP. Unlisted in the SCWC, a double thick issue with "2" and "Argent Essai" stamped on edge of the "franc semeuse" last issued in 1920. Probably a mint sport, as there was no chance of issuing a silver franc after World War One destroyed 80% of the value of the franc. Matte finish with original toning displaying red and golden hues.
