- 1869 Three-Dollar Gold Piece. AU-53 (PCGS). Rich-looking reddish-khaki surfaces retain traces of a semi-prooflike finish as the coin rotates under a light. A shallow obverse graze is well concealed along Liberty's nose, otherwise no marks are worthy of individual mention. Elusive in all grades, the 1869 was produced to the extent of just 2,500 circulation strikes. Survivors number fewer than 300 coins. PCGS# 7990. NGC ID: 25MR.
