THE SOMMELIER COLLECTION What an sensational GEM Proof Barber quarter! First off, this coin is conservatively graded and while we make no guarantees, we would not be shocked if it came back graded PR66 CAM. However, this coin is housed in a very scarce second generation "doily" holder with the frame intact. These Generation 2.0 holders were used for just September and October 1989, and are extremely popular among "slab" collectors. Incredibly deep, flashy mirrors have a bold clarity and cleanliness. They are ultra clean for the assigned grade. There is a blush of peripheral toning that is a delight to behold, framing both sides. The sharply struck devices stand out boldly with a bold frosted texture and have a wonderful contrast. WOW! Only 880 Proofs were struck. PCGS 33, NGC 43, CAC 3. DO NOT let the Population Reports fool you. A PCGS PR65 has not sold since January 2009--a coin that sold for $1,995.
