This Red Book variety is represented by just a single die pair, O-109. It is a rather common variety, listed as Rarity-1, but is always in demand from type, date, and variety collectors. This very pleasing CHOICE AU has a great look. Rich, original surfaces are wonderfully toned in a lilac-pewter-dove coloration over problem free surfaces. The warm colors are enlivened by an underlying luster that survives on the lightly worn fields. The strike is bold for the issue and the eye appeal is exceptional for the date. PCGS 17, NGC 5, CAC 5. This coin brought $4,113 in our July 2022 Regency Auction and prior to that, it sold for $4,583 in the 2017 ANA auction.
