A simply superb GEM that is basically flawless! Rich watery mirrors reflect and refract the light. Twirling the coin in the light a rich gold patina. The strike is razor sharp, each detail fully rendered. The eye appeal of this wonderful coin cannot be beat! Clearly this SUPERB gem sat unmolested in the original tissue paper taking on the lovely, light dappled look it possesses. Only 813 proofs were struck. PCGS 2, NGC 7, CAC 5. Only ONE 1901 half is graded higher in any designation, a PR68+ CAM. While the PCGS Price Guide lists a value of $11,500, the only PCGS PR68 to ever sell in auction was the Childs-Gardner coin, which most recently sold for $23,500 in June 2014.
