- S-294. A sharply struck example of the last "early" date large cent. Housed in an OGH, this deep brown coin has generally smooth, hard surfaces, devoid of any porosity or corrosion that typically plague the issue. A few ancient ticks from commerce are found under a glass, but none hinder the eye appeal. PCGS 23, NGC 4. The most recent example to sell realized $2,174 in a February 2017 auction and going back to 2011, the four examples that have sold were in the general $2,000-$3,000 range, with a current PCGS Price Guide value of $2,500.
