FROM THE SEATTLE COLLECTION Ex Childs and Bruce Scher Collections A very pleasing coin that was part of both a great old time collection and a wonderful former #1 PCGS Registry Set. Both parts of the pedigree should attract lots of attention. Pleasingly satiny with a good GEM quality luster. Some minor striking weakness is seen in the center portions of the III on the reverse, otherwise, the devices are nicely rendered. There is some planchet roughness seen on Liberty's cheek and only a minor fleck or two scattered about, otherwise the eye appeal is very nice. PCGS 33, NGC 18. RARE finer, with just 14 graded from MS65+ to MS66+. This coin sold 15 years ago for a near RECORD price for the date of $6,469 (only a single MS66 ever sold for more realizing $6,900 in June 2005. More recent auction prices realized range from $1,00 to $1,762 and the current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $1,500. A neat centennial year issue with an even neater provenance! Cert.
