FROM THE FORMULA 1 COLLECTION. EX SHIREMAN-- DUCKOR Tied for FINEST GRADED, this was a Duckor duplicate, that was sold privately to Dr. Shireman after Dr. Duckor bought the Thaine B. Price specimen. An underrated date that does not carry a significant premium despite being much scarcer than other dates in GEM Mint State. Offering a nearly full strike, the defintiion is brought out by a satiny sheen across the surfaces on both sides. Pewter-silver, with accents of pastel gold and lilac come out when rotated in a light, the hues are more pronounced on the reverse. The surfaces are free and clear of any distracting marks, none are visible even with the naked eye. PCGS 6, NGC 0, CAC 2. This remarkable example sold for $8,813 in the weak 2016 FUN auction where the Shireman Barber half dollar set was sold. The previously mentioned Thaine Price--Dr. Duckor example sold for $12,650 in the 2010 ANA auction. The current PCGS Price Guide value is $12,000 and we would not be shocked if this beauty realized a price around that when the gavel falls. This is another wonderful GEM Barber half that is going to end up in the FINEST set. Good luck! Cert. Number 19806521 PCGS # 6495
