- THE B.S.T. COLLECTION One of the FINEST examples of this variety. A perfect coin for any type set, the 1806 C-1 among the most common Draped Bust half cent varieties, and luckily a SUPERB GEM like this one exists for the most advanced type collector. An intense, glowing is suffused in the brilliant medium brown fields. As you rotate this marvelous coin in a light, the cartwheels capture the subtle iridescent sea-green and pale violet-blue overtones. The reverse shows accents of the original red clinging to the protected areas of the legend. Both sides exhibit decent strikes with crisply defined details on both sides. Some minor die clashing is seen, but the surfaces are devoid of contact marks anywhere. Even with aid of a strong glass, you will not find a single flaw worthy of mention. The eye appeal is outstanding. Ex: Phillip Showers (Stack's, privately, 1969); Willis H. DuPont; Fred S. Werner (February 1976); Superior (February 1976); Joe Flynn & Son (April 1976); R. Tettenhorst (June 1981); James R. McGuigan Collection; Heritage's sale of the McGuigan Collection, August 2022, lot 3076. PCGS 1, NGC 0, CAC 1. This coin brought $18,000 in August 2022 and the current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $37,500. There is a single MS66+ RB finer a coin that brought $138,000 in the January 2014 sale of the Missouri Cabinet. This coin is a real bargain in comparison! Worthy of another WORLD CLASS half cent or type collection. Bid accordingly, once sold, who knows when another will come up for sale. Cert. Number 30451258 PCGS # 35191
